The new edition of the "Barometer of Employee Share Ownership Policies in European Countries" is just released.
Except in France, all recent policy developments in Europe pave the way towards higher incentives for employee ownership: Poland prepares a dedicated legislation; the Swedish government is considering the introduction of a favorable tax-qualified option regime for small and medium sized companies, which could take effect from January 1, 2018; in Ireland, a new share scheme incentive focused on SMEs would be introduced in 2018. These new developments confirm the positive trend observed since 2013. By contrast, the French Parliament decided in November 2016 that the positive measures voted through the "Loi Macron" in 2015 should be removed.

12/10/2015 - FAST Communique - Thales 2015 share scheme
FAST welcomes the impressive rate of subscription to the 8th Thales employee share scheme, which closed on 12th November. The 500,000 shares offered to 61 000 eligible employees in 24 countries were over-subscribed 2.5 times. FAST sees in this success three key factors: 1) The global nature of the offer: a) with attractive features - some of which were put forward by FAST b) available to 98% employees of the Group (FAST pushed for the maximum coverage) 2) A powerful expression of the employees’ confidence in the strategy and future of the Group at all levels and in all countries 3) Strong support from top management, in particular from the Group Chairman & CEO. The countries which originally founded FAST continue to be strongly involved - France (32.8% of eligible employees), Netherlands (22.2%) and United Kingdom (23.6%) - and four emerging countries subscribed in force - Singapore (44.5%), Qatar (25.4%), Hong Kong (24.5%) and Brazil (22.6%). Finally, Portugal made a fantastic return to the scheme (32%). FAST considers that this successful offering creates the basis for an annual share scheme for all employees, in order step by step to reach and exceed a level of 5% held by Thales employees. The Thales share price recently hit €70. Although this is impressive, financial analysts expect more growth. Many thanks to each and every one of you.
